In our society today, there are many famous people who on the outside seem to have it all.
They have money, big houses, and fame. However, they are very empty inside. Many of them resort to drugs or alcohol to attain happiness, however it makes them sink into depression, somtimes tearing apart thier families. For example, Lindsay Lohan was a very successful actress, earning more than most Americans could ever dream of. However, she was eventually consumed by the Hollywood lifestyle, and became involved in drugs and alcohol.

Crime and Punishment
Is happiness something we create or is it dependent upon our circumstances?
In Crime and Punishment, Raskolninkov is unhappy no matter what he does. He is not happy while he is poor, before commits the murder. However, he is not happy after he commits the murder and has the money to support his sister and mother. In Raskolninkov's case, his change in circusmtances does not make him a happier person, instead he sinks futher and futher into depression.

Henry IV Part 1 et Les Questions
Do some people experience more suffering than others?
This does not directly relate but, In Henry IV Part I, I think Prince Hal's meddling with alcohol and foolishness illustrates that it is best to practice moderation.

Oedipus et Les Questions
- Is it possible for one person to truly know another person? Why is it that the people who we think we know and trust betray us? Oedipus suggests that it is impossible to truly know another person. For example, Oedipus marries Iocaste without having any idea that she is his mother. In addition, Oedipus raises the question of whether it is possible for one to truly know themselves because for the majority of the play, Oedipus lives not knowing who he is and what he has done.
- How much do our past experiences influence our future actions? In Oedipus Rex, Oedipus's past influences his actions drastically. For example, at the end of the play, he tells his daughters straight up the truth of their family history. I believe that this is because Oedipus lived his life not knowing his true identity and that he did not want his daughters to have the same experience as him. In this way, Oedipus suggests that one's past experiences may influence him to go to extremes. Is there such thing as an "easy" or "hard" life? Do some people really suffer more than others? I am not exactly sure how I could answer this one with Oedipus.

les questions
Is it possible for one person to truly know another person? Why is it that the people who we think we know and trust betray us?
I do not feel that any person knows who I really am. I am often misunderstood. My mom claims to know me better than I know myself. However, even though I have lived with her my whole life and we have a good relationship, I feel that she does not know the real me. Likewise, I feel that it is impossible to know everything about someone else.
After pondering this question, I questioned why the people who we think we know and trust betray us. For example, many marriages fall apart after several years. People who we think are caring and trustworthy turn around and commit acts of violence. Was there something about that person, something that was there all along that no one knew?
How much do our past experiences influence our future actions?
This question interests me because I have had many experiences that have influenced my actions but I have also had many experiences that I feel have not had a significant impact upon my life.
Is there such thing as an "easy" or "hard" life? Do some people really suffer more than others?
A quote that comes to my mind is from a Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens "It was the worst of times, it was the best of times." Rarely, is there a time when a person experiences complete misery or sheer bliss. I believe that there is no such thing as an easy or hard life. For example, on the outside, celebrities seem to have it all; fancy houses, cars, and money. However, they also carry the pressure of living up to the public's expectations and many of them struggle with problems such as drugs or alcohol.
